5 things for a Friday
Bank holiday Monday, another coronation themed bank holiday this Monday and a bank holiday at the end of May. Four day weeks – but no shirking here as we still have Five Things For A Friday.
BRING AND BUY SALES
The Trust intend to run a car boot / local produce / table top sale every second Saturday from 10am to 2pm during June, July, August and September. Dates are 10th June, 8th July, 12th August and 9th September.
It’s an opportunity for households to recycle old items, sell fresh goods and local crafts and will appeal to the community and visitors during the summer months.
There are 15 external spaces and we will open the Wildside inside if the weather isn’t great.
The first event is free and you will require to bring your own fold up table (not more than 6ft please). Future events will be £10 for access.
If you’d like to participate then please get in touch with me by 19th May at tony-ceo@sfctrust.org.uk
JOIN THE HIGHLAND GATHERING SUMMER TEAM
The Highland Gathering 2022 was a big success and we are expecting an even bigger turn out for 2023. We are looking for a team of people to work during the Highland Gathering to help support the event. This would suit someone looking for a summer job and extra pocket money if you are available 21st – 23rd July to help. To apply send you CV and covering letter to admin@sfctrust.org.uk with Gathering Team in the subject heading by Monday 22nd May.
Activities for the role will include;
Setting up and taking down the Highland Gathering.
Directing people on the day to the event, help with parking, vouchers, prizes and supporting volunteers/stall holders.
Communicating activities on the day.
Helping make the event an enjoyable day for everyone.
BE OUR NEW FINANCE OFFICER OR BOOKKEEPER.
Due to the resignation of our current Finance Officer we will be advertising to replace Marie soon. We’d like to thank Marie for being an invaluable member of the team and I’m pleased to say she will help any new member of staff with a handover. We have reviewed her role and split it into two – a Finance Officer and a Bookkeeper. Watch out for the ads soon but if you are interested please get in touch with me at tony-ceo@sfctrust.org.uk
NEW FUNDING FOR A CAP PROJECT OFFICER AND MARKETING AND PR OFFICER.
I am pleased to say our fundraisers have been awarded funding of just over £104,000 from Strengthening Communties for two staff members to join our team – a Marketing and PR role and a CAP Project Officer to help support groups to take forward some of our CAP ambitions. Both roles are for three years and show the Trusts commitment to support the community, move projects forward and provide employment. This funding is being made available by the Scottish Government with mentoring support and administration of the funding provided by DTA Scotland, the Grantor.
We are going through an internal recruitment process and are expected to advertise externally for these roles, which can be job share, very soon.
Here’s one such project coming from the CAP – the Community Growing Programme. Check it out Fancy a work party? | 03 May 2023 | Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust (stratherrickcommunity.org.uk)
ERROGIE PLANS
After three years of discussion and consultation the plans have finally gone to planning. The consultation never ends - we are still taking on community comments and you can also engage as part of the planning application process. Some of your comments have come up in our discussions over the years but remain really helpful to bring an old, neglected building to life again. This year Phase 1 is nearing completion with repairs to the building to ensure it does not deteriorate even further into disrepair. See the plans for the second phase here PLANS FOR PHASE 2! | 01 May 2023 | Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust (stratherrickcommunity.org.uk)
